The Lydia House

In 2012 HBCC purchased the former elementary school on Main Street. The main building on the property was converted to housing in 1984 and currently includes 33 apartments.

The two-story stone building on the east edge of the property had been damaged by fire and was in need of renovation. In 2013 restoration on the building was completed. Most of the work was done by talented individuals within the HBCC congregation, from tearing off plaster to expose lovely stone walls, to repainting the interior in welcoming coffee shop colors. New doors and windows and an added bell tower contribute to its welcoming appearance.

In honor of Lydia Zook, a faithful member of our congregation who passed away in 2011, as well as the example in Acts 16:14, we have named this building “The Lydia House.”

The building is currently used for church offices and as a meeting place for many different church functions, such as Bible studies, prayer meetings, leadership meetings, counseling sessions, personal connections, homeschool co-op classes, youth group, worship team practice, etc.
